The University at Albany's College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC) is proud to announce that its four-person team, the UAlbany Cyber Danes, advanced to the semifinals of the prestigious Atlantic Council Cyber 9/12 Strategy Challenge. The 15th annual Cyber 9/12 Strategy Challenge, held in Washington, D.C. in March, was hosted by the Atlantic Council's Cyber Statecraft Initiative in partnership with the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. The Cyber Danes joined 39 teams from universities around the world at the event for two rigorous days of strategy, teamwork and competition, responding to realistic cybersecurity incidents and developing actionable solutions to mitigate evolving crises. The University at Albany congratulates the UAlbany Cyber Danes on their outstanding performance at the 2026 Cyber 9/12 Strategy Challenge.

University at Albany students attended the 2026 MIT Reality Hack, one of the largest extended reality (XR) hackathons in the world - and took home multiple awards. At the event, participants compete for prizes by building an application using immersive technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality. The Hack was sponsored by companies such as Qualcomm, Meta, Caldwell, Raven Resonance, Petricor, Preview Labs, Quasar Lab, and American Medical Extended Reality Association (AMXRA).

Organized by the UAlbany Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment and Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy, the essay contest has been running as part of the university's Constitution Day celebrations for several years. This year's prompt asked students if they would change the Preamble if they were writing it today. Each student received a monetary award, funded by the Rockefeller College Prof. Harold W. Adams Student Experience Fund, which was endowed by Tim Murphy, an alumnus of the college.
