2017 Semester in Washington Cohort is Announced

2017 Jan 31

Making the move from New York's capital to the nation's, 17 University at Albany students have journeyed to Washington D.C. as a part of the University's Semester in Washington Program. From January to May, students will live and work in the epicenter of political and legal policy.

For nearly two decades, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy has administered the Semester in Washington program for the University at Albany, giving undergraduate students an opportunity to explore careers in government and the public and non-profit sectors. Yielding an expansive network of alumni, students are connected with successful program graduates and political leaders, while also having the opportunity to take advantage of the historic, artistic, governmental, and recreational assets D.C. has to offer.

In the past, the program has only ever been offered in the spring, however beginning in Fall 2017 the program will expand to a fall and spring semester option for undergraduate students. The expansion will have a focus on homeland security, cybersecurity and global affairs, jointly supported by Rockefeller College and the new College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity.

An informational meeting for students interested in participating in the Semester in Washington Program in 2017-18 will take place Tuesday, January 31 at 6 p.m. in Business Administration 210.
